Our client in Austin, Texas is looking for a Corporate Counsel, Complex Liens to join their team! YOUR why:

The Corporate Counsel of Complex Liens is integral to our client’s Single Event lien resolution operation. Your primary focus will be:

  • The timely resolution of complex subrogation files and management of an assigned case docket by researching, investigating, and negotiating these complex legal matters.

  • Proactive communication with client law firms, subrogation claims representatives and internal departments is imperative.


How YOU will spend YOUR days:

  • Maintain complex lien docket through continual review of each client file.

  • Maintain positive relationships with client firms through responsiveness and proactive communication.

  • Use innovative arguments to negotiate the best possible reduction of complex lien files.

  • Monitor and review emerging case law and promptly disseminate relevant data to staff.

  • Serve as a staff resource through interpretation and application of regulations, case law, state and federal laws as well as review of complex health plan contracts.

  • Assist with the development of training documents and onboard training of new hires.

  • Strategize and coach Single Event team members on complex lien resolution, including health plan governing document analysis, crafting of reduction arguments and development of verbal negotiation skills.

  • Serve as escalation point for Single Event team members for assistance in complex lien negotiations.


What YOU bring:

  • JD from an accredited law school and current Texas licensure to practice law; good standing with the Texas Bar Association

  • Experience in subrogation or personal injury law

  • Familiarity with laws concerning insurance policy interpretation

  • Experience with case management software and billing databases

  • Healthcare claims processing, billing, ICD codes knowledge is extremely helpful

  • Ability to analyze and interpret large volumes of information and complex legal issues, and ability to complete advanced legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, etc.

  • Strong client advocacy skills and negotiation tactics, including strong judgment and decisiveness during negotiations

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in all forms

  • Strong ability to prioritize and organize workload independently, ensuring client needs are addressed in a timely, cohesive fashion

Location: Austin, TX - Onsite position

Compensation: $80-90k + bonus
