YOUR Why
Working with the Senior Vice President of Accounting, the VP of Financial Reporting directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all external financial reporting documents and related SEC filings. You will be responsible for ensuring that reports, filings, and documentation comply with the company’s regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Additionally, you’ll oversee technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards, advise management of trends and changes in reporting requirements, and recommend the best approach for any changes in reporting. You’ll have additional responsibility for assisting with the implementation, maintenance and review of internal controls and corporate policies and procedures.
How YOU Will Spend YOUR Days
Financial Reporting Management (80%)
Prepare 10Q, 10K, and 8K reports and supporting schedules.
Interface with external auditors and lead quarterly reviews and annual audits by the external auditors.
Interface with the internal legal department.
Assist in preparation of the monthly and quarterly management reporting package and review of financial information included in the package.
Prepare disclosure checklist.
Assist in ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP reporting requirements; assist in the implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
Act as a technical accounting resource by assisting with researching, resolving and documenting accounting issues that arise during the quarter.
Analyze, research and conclude on new and proposed accounting, reporting and disclosure standards issued by the SEC, PCAOB, FASB, and other regulatory agencies. Prepare memorandums regarding the Company’s position and impact on the Company.
Supervision (20%)
Effectively supervise and manage 2 direct reports.
Foster a culture of leadership, development, and communication to meet organization and individual goals.
Help set the tone of the department to ensure morale, team work, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.
What YOU Bring
15+ years of relevant experience; mix of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience preferred.
5+ years of SEC reporting experience.
3+ years of experience in supervising staff.
Highly detail oriented, organized, self-motivated and proactive. Must be able to meet critical deadlines, and work well under stress with changing priorities and deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance and draft accounting memos to support conclusions.
Strong communication skills and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Able to establish and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships.
Strong management ability and capable of setting clear objectives for staff and motivating them to achieve those objectives on time and according to plans.
Organized, detail-oriented, diplomatic, proactive, self-motivated, dependable, and driven by excellence.
Even-tempered and able to balance multiple tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Location: Remote in Denver, CO
Compensation: $175k - $200k per year
