Today is International Nelson Mandela Day!
In recognition of Mandela's contribution to world peace and freedom, the UN declared July 18th "Nelson Mandela International Day" in November 2009. This holiday recognizes Mandela’s values and his dedication to the service of humanity in the promotion and protection of human rights - gender equality, the rights of children and other vulnerable groups, the fight against poverty, and other areas of injustice.
Today let's acknowledge his contribution to the fight for democracy internationally and the promotion of peace throughout the world.
