How YOU Will Spend YOUR Days

  • Supervise a team of Financial and Senior Financial Accountants (2 total), assigning work, reviewing deliverables, providing coaching and training, and conducting initial performance evaluations.

  • Regularly make decisions and recommendations regarding interviewing/hiring, mentoring, setting work hours, directing work, appraising performance, recommending promotions, and handling grievances or disciplinary issues.

  • Serve as a key resource for accounting staff regarding accounting policies, reporting requirements, and month-end close procedures.

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules, management reporting packages, and budget-to-actual analyses to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Coordinate and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, ensuring adherence to the financial close calendar.

  • Review and approve journal entries, supporting documentation, and account analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and Company policies.

  • Review account reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.

  • Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls, accounting procedures, and reporting processes to improve efficiency and strengthen compliance.

  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of operating expense and capital expenditure accruals.

  • Partner with various groups to analyze operating results, explain cost variances, and identify key business drivers.

  • Prepare and review lease operating statements, capital reports, and operational metrics used by management to evaluate asset performance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What YOU Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.

  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.

  • At least four (4) years of related accounting experience.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP with an emphasis in oil and gas accounting, combined with the ability to research, propose, and apply new and existing standards to complex issues.

  • Working knowledge of government rules and regulations, including SEC reporting requirements and state-promulgated oil and gas commission regulations.

  • Strong financial and business acumen along with technical financial reporting skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply accounting standards in a complex, dynamic environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with high proficiency in Excel (including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs).

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, coordinate, and maintain multiple projects with high quality and productivity.

  • Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships with internal and external teams.

  • Proven leadership abilities to support, mentor, and effectively lead a team.

  • High ethical and professional standards, ensuring personal and team alignment with company values.


Location: Onsite position, 5 days a week in downtown Denver

Compensation: $145k - $165k per year
